Disney Dreaming......

Everyone is going to Disneyland and I am jealous! Not only is it one of my favorite places to be but now they brought Captain EO back the day after my birthday! But here's the dilemma: I'm pregnant and can't go on a lot of my favorite rides! So that being said it's hard to fork over the money (because we all know it's not cheap)and not be able to go on all the rides. If I had a season pass it would be ok because eventually I won't be pregnant but since we are trying to save for the baby and our move buying a pass doesn't seem to make since either! So now you can see my dilemma! I guess for now I'll just keep day dreaming of one day returning to one of my happiest places on earth...

Calling all former and current pregnant women!!

So all you former and current pregnant women I need your help! I am hungry and really would like to eat something that doesn't make me sick within 30 minutes after eating it!! I've tried different things but the main problem is that i am so exhausted at the end of the day that I don't really want to cook or at least spend too much time in the kitchen. So I need your recipes or ideas for food or meals that were easy or comforting for you to eat while you were pregnant and nauseous. Or even if you haven't been pregnant if you have any recipes that sound easy on the tummy. Did I mention I would appreciate simple recipes? Like I said earlier it's hard for me to spend a lot of time cooking, so quick, easy recipes would be best. Well thanks in advance for any contributions!!!

First Ultrasound.....

Today we got to SEE our little one for the first time! It was absolutely amazing! The little on even waved at us! He or she looks healthy so far, but there wasn't much to look at as it's still so little! I did find out all my blood tests came back and so far so good! I am slightly anemic, so I have to take some extra iron but other than that I'm healthy as can be! Which in the end is all that matters, I just am so thankful to not have had any issues so far. I know I gripe about the nausea but as long as my baby is healthy and growing then I'll deal with it! And believe me seeing that cute little peanut on the screen moving around so makes EVERYTHING worth it! So here are a few photos of the baby, not the best pictures but you can kind of see the baby (it's head is on the right side, profile shot) and a cute little video my amazing hubby made!! Enjoy

Blood Tests & Appointments!

Well today after work I get to go give blood and urine for all kinds of prenatal tests... exciting right?! Well normally no, but once i get all these tests back and make sure everything is normal I feel even more confident! Then on Friday I have an appointment w/a midwife at Kaiser (I'll explain the insurance/midwife situation in a later blog) and hopefully (cross your fingers!!!) she'll do an ultrasound! I hope hope hope so! Otherwise I have to schedule ANOTHER appointment to get one, my midwife Lorri recommends me getting one to better nail down the due date, plus it will be so awesome to see our little one! Well exciting things to come, I'll keep you posted on the tests and stuff!

I want Chocolate!!!

Dear Baby in my tummy,

I love you dearly and am doing my very best to eat better and often so you (and I) can grow. I have almost completely cut out caffeine from my diet (this was huge as you know your mommy love her Dr. Pepper, so once every couple weeks is the best I can do) and have tried not to eat out as much. I have also increased my fruit and veggie intake, this is all for you! Believe me I am happy to do all this to make sure you are as healthy as can be. (even though after every meal and usually in between them as well you try to make me throw everything up!) But baby if you can hear me please, please allow me one thing..... mama needs her chocolate!! You see ever since you flooded my system with hormones, sweets are well too sweet and make me nauseous! Now I see brownies and cakes and cookies and all I can do is drool and remember what it was like to be able to eat them! I want to be able to eat chocolate so bad (w/o heartburn, indigestion and/or nausea) that I am seriously thinking of naming you Cocoa or Nestle (boy or girl). I know you are barely an inch long right now and have no idea what I'm even talking about but if you could just maybe grow a little faster so mama's "morning" sickness would go away sooner and I could eat chocolate again I would be so grateful!

Lots of love,

Your mom, Amber

p.s. this is what I would really love to share w/you right now! Remember what I eat you eat... so we could both enjoy this! Think about it!

Love at first sound

So we had our first Midwife appointment last Thursday and it went great! We got to talk to our midwife Lorri for awhile and we basically just went over my medical history and any questions we had so far. She is just a sweet lady. I feel so comfortable with her already! She is so easy to talk to and I already feel so much trust and confidence in her. So towards the end of the appointment she asked if we wanted to try and hear the baby's heartbeat w/the Doppler?! Of course! I knew that there was a chance that we may not find the baby just because it's still so little but what if we could? I had brought along our little video camera just in case. So Gerald recorded while Lorri tried to and eventually found our baby's heartbeat! It was the most amazing sound! I knew the second I heard it, it was the sound of love. Not only did we find it but it was super strong! Lorri was almost as excited as we were, she told all the ladies in the office, "We got to hear the baby!" when we went out. All in all it was an amazing first appointment and it really made me feel like all that I have been going through, physically and emotionally, has been so worth it! I feel so lucky, not only am I creating life but I'm doing it with the most amazing and supportive husband and family!

Next up are blood tests and more appointments!! I'll continue to keep you posted!

Welcome!!

Hello everyone!!
I am starting this blog to document my growing baby bump! If you didn't know, Gerald and I are expecting our first baby! I am currently 10 weeks pregnant and have a due date of October 2nd. We are very excited and want to share our journey with our loved ones near and far! So I will try and post as often as possible, especially after doctor appointments.

I plan on writing again later, so until then welcome!
